Honoring Resilience, Strength, and Survival
Every Saturday, we take a moment to recognize and uplift the strong women who shape our lives—the mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, and friends who have endured hardship, embraced resilience, and carried their strength with grace.
Strength is not just about overcoming obstacles; it’s about continuing to stand tall despite them. It’s about survival, about living in defiance of the odds, and about finding joy even in the face of adversity.

What Makes a Woman Strong?
A strong woman is not defined by how easy her journey has been, but by how she carries herself through the storms. She is the woman who faces betrayal yet refuses to lose herself in bitterness. She is the mother who holds her family together despite heartbreak. She is the survivor who rebuilds her life from the ruins of trauma.
The true mark of strength is persistence—the choice to rise every time life tries to knock you down.
My Strong Women: A Legacy of Strength and Survival
When I think of strong women, I think of my mother, Georgia. A woman who knew hardship intimately, yet never let it define her.
Her first husband—my father—was unfaithful, leaving her to navigate the emotional wounds of betrayal. Her second husband was worse. He abused her and her daughters, testing the limits of her endurance. But she survived. And when he passed, you could see the weight lift from her shoulders—the subtle relief of living without fear, of finally breathing freely.
Yet even after the storm had passed, life never gave her ease. She lived in poverty, yet she never lost sight of what truly mattered. She raised me, she fought to carve out a life that felt like her own, and above all—she survived.
Survival, for her, was an act of defiance. It was proof that no matter how much pain had been thrown her way, she refused to surrender to it. She endured because she knew she was worthy of life beyond suffering.
And that is the essence of a strong woman—a survivor who does more than exist. She lives.
Sisters, Daughters, and Friends: The Many Faces of Strength
Strength takes many forms, and I am fortunate to know women who embody it in their own ways.
My sister, Sandy, carries her strength in the love she gives to others. Through ups and downs, she has remained a pillar of kindness, always offering herself to those who need support.
My daughters, Kris, Nicole, and Steph, carry their strength in their determination. Watching them build lives for themselves reminds me that strength is also about choosing to embrace joy, ambition, and self-love—about refusing to let the hardships of the past dictate the future.
Each of these women, in their own way, has overcome something. And each of them stands as proof that hardship does not define us—how we rise from it does.
The Journey of Strong Women Everywhere
Strong Women Saturday is not just about my story—it’s about all of us. It’s about the women who break cycles of pain and abuse, the ones who fight for their dreams despite the voices that tell them they can’t. It’s about the single mothers who work tirelessly to provide, the women who rebuild themselves after trauma, and the quiet warriors who carry burdens no one sees.
It’s about you. About the strength that you carry in your own life, in ways big and small.
How Can We Uplift Strong Women?
- Celebrate Their Stories – Share the stories of strong women in your life. Let their resilience be known.
